Recently, renowned automotive blogger Han Lu revealed that Xiaomi car would make a debut on Tenna’s website, accompanied by a plethora of disclosures.
Han Lu positions Xiaomi’s first vehicle as a “C-Class Eco-Tech Sedan” (C-Class Luxury Sedan), with high-performance configurations and bearing the Xiaomi brand. He claims that the “interior space is quite impressive,” and the much-anticipated Pengpai OS has found its place in Xiaomi’s car.
Han Lu opines that Xiaomi’s first car has a “good aesthetic appeal,” with sleek lines deserving a score of 90, making it most comparable to the Porsche Taycan.
Furthermore, Han Lu discloses that the starting price for Xiaomi’s first model exceeds 300,000 yuan (about $41,280), with the high-end version expected to be close to 400,000 yuan ($55,000). Xiaomi has reportedly developed its technologies in areas such as motors, die-casting, and battery packs. The rear of the car is labeled “Beijing Xiaomi,” as the vehicle is manufactured at Xiaomi’s factory in Beijing Yizhuang.
In 2021, Xiaomi made a high-profile announcement of a 100 billion USD (approximately 730 billion RMB) investment over ten years in the car manufacturing sector. Xiaomi’s Group Partner and President, Lu Weibing, revealed in mid-2023 that Xiaomi’s car manufacturing progress is proceeding smoothly, and they are maintaining their production target for the first half of 2024.
