Apple’s Vice President of Global Product Marketing, Bob Borchers. We discussed the “8GB of memory” issue that many people are curious about. Addressing why Apple’s entry-level MacBook Pro has only 8GB of memory, Bob Borchers explained that the Apple MacBook Pro utilizes a unified memory architecture. This means it differs from memory in other systems, as Apple’s memory usage is more efficient. Additionally, Apple employs memory compression technology, which makes the 8GB memory in the Apple M3 MacBook Pro perform similarly to 16GB in other systems.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro is priced at 12,999 CNY (about $1,785) with 8GB of RAM and 512GB storage, and the 16-inch model costs 19,999 CNY (about $2,475) with 18GB of RAM and 512GB storage.

The official website reveals that the new MacBook Pro 14-inch model has a significant premium for storage upgrades. Each 8GB memory increment beyond the base model requires an additional cost of 1,500 CNY, and the same applies to each 512GB of hard drive storage increment.
