On the evening of November 6, MediaTek officially unveiled the next-generation flagship mobile platform, Dimensity 9300, at its product launch event. This chipset, featuring an entirely new octa-core architecture, has garnered widespread attention.
MediaTek Unveils New Flagship 5G AI SoC, Dimensity 9300
AI powers the Dimensity 9300, a flagship 5G SoC designed with TSMC’s latest 4nm process technology, and it delivers remarkable performance and energy efficiency. With a whopping 22.7 billion transistors, it delivers exceptional performance while maintaining excellent power management.
The Dimensity 9300 architecture includes one super-large core at 3.25GHz, three large cores at 2.85GHz, and four small cores at 2.0GHz. Compared to the Dimensity 9200, it provides a 15% performance increase while maintaining the same power consumption, a 40% boost in multi-core peak performance, and a 33% reduction in power consumption for the same level of performance. It also features 8MB of L3 cache and 10MB of system cache, ensuring both robust performance and outstanding energy efficiency.
In benchmark tests, Dimensity 9300 achieves impressive scores, with a Geekbench V6 multi-core score reaching up to 8000 points. AnTuTu V10 score exceeding 2,130,000 points. Additionally, it has a new flagship 12-core GPU, Immortalis-G720 MC12, with a high clock frequency of 1300MHz, delivering a 23% peak performance increase over Dimensity 9200 while reducing power consumption by 40%.
Moreover, Dimensity 9300 supports display refresh rates of up to 180Hz for WQHD screens or 120Hz for 4K screens. It also accommodates foldable devices with dual active displays and Android 14’s Ultra HDR display format. It offers ray tracing and game console-level global lighting effects, setting a new standard for mobile gaming graphics quality.
Dimensity 9300 Features Powerful AI Processor for Generative AI
The flagship 5G AI SoC 9300 also integrates MediaTek’s seventh-generation AI processor, APU790, designed for generative AI. It supports AI language models with up to 3.3 billion parameters for terminal operation and significantly reduces memory consumption through advanced hardware compression technology called NeuroPilot Compression.
Furthermore, Dimensity 9300 upgrades to Imagiq 990ISP, supporting a range of features and technologies. It includes an AI semantic segmentation video engine, 16-layer image semantic segmentation, depth of field and lens flare dual engines, full-pixel focusing with 2x lossless zoom, OIS optical anti-shake special core, and three-microphone high dynamic range recording noise reduction.
In addition, it is equipped with a new secure boot chip, an isolated secure computing environment, and Armv9 memory tagging extensions.
The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9300 chip are expected to be released by the end of 2023.
