On October 30, Huawei officially announced an important milestone: the number of upgraded devices to HarmonyOS 4 has exceeded 100 million. Simultaneously, on the day of the release, Huawei also launched the first batch of models for public testing. According to official data, more than 1 million people upgraded to Hongmeng OS 4 on the first day. Notably, Hongmeng OS 4 comes equipped with the new Huawei Ark engine, resulting in a 20% improvement in system fluency and an extended battery life of 30 minutes. Moreover, users can now load tens of thousands of pictures in the gallery instantly.

Concerning security, the new application management and control center of HarmonyOS 4 can automatically intercept and remind users when they attempt to install risky applications. Furthermore, even if users choose to install such applications, the system will automatically exert control, granting permission within the minimum scope.

It’s worth noting that Huawei began planning its own operating system, “HarmonyOS,” in 2012 and officially released Harmony OS in August 2019. Over several iterations, HarmonyOS has gradually been incorporated into Huawei mobile phones, TVs, watches, smart cockpits, and other products. According to Counterpoint data, Huawei’s Hongmeng OS has achieved a market share of 8% in China, making it the third-largest mobile operating system, following Android and iOS.
