Xiaomi HyperOS was officially released last night, undergoing a fundamental restructuring at its core and integrating extensive content, including cross-device intelligence and large-scale AI models. The first batch of Chinese devices will receive the official version update in December. In addition, the MIUI official X account has announced that the Xiaomi HyperOS global version will launch in the first quarter of 2024. However, the official has not disclosed the specific timetable for the Xiaomi HyperOS global version.
Xiaomi HyperOS marks the most extensive “fundamental restructuring” in Xiaomi’s history. The hardware capabilities allow flexible firmware size configurations, resulting in a remarkably small phone firmware that measures only 8.75GB, claiming to be the smallest in the entire industry.
Xiaomi’s official announcement reveals that the newly introduced Xiaomi 14 series will come pre-installed with HyperOS, along with other devices released in the Chinese market, such as the Xiaomi Watch S3 and the Xiaomi TV S Pro 85-inch miniLED.
Xiaomi HyperOS’s underlying core system merges Linux with Xiaomi Vela, ensuring exceptional compatibility with a wide range of hardware and precise resource management capabilities. This allows every device to achieve optimal performance. The underlying support of Xiaomi HyperOS extends to over 200 processor platforms, and more than 20 common file systems, and covers hundreds of device categories with thousands of SKU options. The system can adapt to hardware configurations, run flexibly, and deploy elastically, supporting devices with RAM sizes as small as 64KB or as large as 24GB.
