Xiaomi officially announced the launch of HyperOS and the Xiaomi 14. The new phone will be available to us soon. According to the latest news from Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi Mi 14 series is receiving further improvements in imaging this time. The first time it now features a Leica Summilux lens, whereas the previous 13 Ultra used to have a Leica Summicron lens.
Among Leica’s own lens products, Summicron represents the F2 aperture, while Summilux represents the larger F1.4 aperture. This lens is Leica’s best-seller and is more expensive than the former. It offers a shallower depth of field when shooting, making it more suitable for portrait photography.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi 14 series will maintain the characteristics of Summilux and introduce a super large aperture of F1.4. This aperture allows more light to enter and provides excellent performance in night scenes and color reproduction, along with the ability to capture more beautiful portrait photos. Additionally, this series will incorporate a new main camera with an extra large sensor, enhancing the photography capabilities of the entire series.
It’s important to note that an ultra-large aperture of F1.4 has both advantages and disadvantages. A depth of field that is too shallow is not suitable for all scenes. For instance, when taking photos of food, it can yield undesirable results. Therefore, the Xiaomi 14 series is likely to include variable aperture technology, similar to the 13 Ultra, allowing users to freely adjust the aperture between F1.4 and F4.0 to accommodate different shooting requirements.
