Xiaomi has officially announced that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, their highly anticipated foldable smartphone, will be launched in August. This confirmation aligns with our previous articles speculating the August release. The company’s officials, including Lu Weibing, the general manager of Redmi in China, have verified this information.
Lu Weibing recently disclosed the launch date of the MIX Fold 3 through a post on the social media platform Weibo. The MIX Fold 3 is expected to be a flagship device, boasting an impressive camera setup that sets it apart from other foldable smartphones.
In the Weibo post, Lu Weibing shared news about Xiaomi’s advanced production facility in China. This facility features cutting-edge automation processes and will begin manufacturing with the MIX Fold 3 as its inaugural model. Lu Weibing explicitly mentioned in the post’s comment section that the MIX Fold 3 will hit the market in August.
MIX Fold 3 Camera
The MIX Fold 3 will feature the Sony IMX 989 sensor, also found in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Having a 1-inch type sensor on a foldable device is a significant advantage. Additionally, the auxiliary cameras on the Fold 3 will be identical to those found in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

These auxiliary cameras will include a 50 MP ultrawide angle camera with the Sony IMX 858 sensor, a telephoto camera, and a periscope telephoto camera. It’s worth noting that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra also utilizes the Sony IMX 858 sensor for all of its auxiliary cameras, making the camera configuration of the MIX Fold 3 on par with that of the 13 Ultra.
