On June 29th, Gizcoupon reported that Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun stated that Panasonic Holdings and Xiaomi Corporation are expected to collaborate in developing household air conditioning systems for the Chinese market.
Specifically, Xiaomi will leverage Panasonic’s manufacturing expertise and quality control to strengthen its air conditioning business. Meanwhile, Panasonic plans to bring back a portion of its air conditioning production to Japan. At the same time, it will use the remaining capacity to expand its operations in China, including OEM manufacturing.
Reportedly, Panasonic Air Conditioning Guangzhou Co., Ltd. has already formed a strategic alliance with Xiaomi. Panasonic has high expectations for its OEM partnership with Xiaomi. Additionally, it anticipates expanding the production capacity of its Chinese factories.
Earlier, Gizcoupon reported on June 14th that Xiaomi’s Home Appliances Air Conditioning Division had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Panasonic Air Conditioner. The two companies will establish resource sharing in the areas of research and development, production, and manufacturing of air conditioning products. They form a multi-tiered and multi-domain strategic partnership.
Xiaomi and Panasonic have already collaborated on various projects. These include the successful launch of the Xiaomi “Giant Power Saving” series of air conditioners. Additionally, they have jointly developed new air conditioning products with ventilation systems. It is expected that there will be comprehensive collaboration plans in the future, encompassing a wider range of household appliances.
