On June 29th, Gizcoupon reported that Nubia released its first AI eyewear-free 3D tablet, the Nubia Pad 3D, earlier this month. It incorporates a unique 3D light field display technology. Priced at 10,999 yuan (approximately $1,531), it is clearly not intended for the masses.
Nubia Pad 3D
Today, the Nubia Pad 3D made an appearance at the MWC 2023 Shanghai World Mobile Communications Conference. Gizcoupon brings you firsthand photos and a brief hands-on experience.
The tablet’s appearance is rather ordinary. Its main highlight is the exclusive DLB layer integrated beneath the LCD display on the front. This enables eyewear-free 3D viewing.
The tablet boasts AI stereoscopic eye-tracking technology. With an ultra-wide viewing angle of 86 degrees, it precisely tracks the user’s eyes in real-time. As the user’s eyes move while watching, the 3D display algorithm dynamically adjusts to achieve the optimal 3D viewing experience.
Gizcoupon’s initial hands-on experience revealed that the eyewear-free 3D effect of the Nubia Pad 3D surpasses that of the Nintendo 3DS. However, there is still a slight granular appearance. Nonetheless, due to its large screen size (12.4 inches), the overall immersive experience is considerably better than that of the 3DS.
Nubia Neo Air
Additionally, the new Nubia AR glasses, Nubia Neo Air, also made an appearance at the exhibition. It claims to offer AI interaction capabilities.
The glasses feature a design similar to regular eyeglasses. They have a black and gold color scheme, with the Nubia logo and a speaker located on the temples. According to the official description, the glasses support real-time translation, navigation, and prompts. Moreover, users can engage in conversations with an AI assistant.
Gizcoupon tested the glasses and found that they can be configured through a mobile phone for features such as prompts. They can also switch between single-eye mode, display message notifications, listen to music, and adjust brightness through the mobile app.
In terms of actual wearing experience, it seems that the glasses can only display green text. Gizcoupon has not yet discovered any other special display effects.
According to Nubia’s official data, the Nubia Neo Air has a battery life of more than 8 hours. Also, it is available in black and white colors. The specific price will be announced later.
