Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Chip Released, Upgrades 4nm Process

On June 26th, Gizcoupon reported that Qualcomm has just unveiled its latest entry-level mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. This new chipset marks a significant upgrade for budget smartphones as it transitions from the previous 6nm process to an advanced 4nm process.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 incorporates the high-performance Qualcomm Kryo CPU, boasting a peak speed of up to 2.2 GHz, a 10% improvement over its predecessor. Additionally, it features support for fast charging technology. Qualcomm claims that a mere 15-minute charge can provide 50% battery capacity.

This platform supports an FHD+ 120fps display and brings notable improvements in the camera department. These include electronic stabilization, faster autofocus, and further reduction of blurriness. Furthermore, the chipset even offers multiple-camera temporal filtering (MCTF) to reduce noise in videos.

Of course, as a modern product introduced in 2023, its emphasis also lies in AI capabilities, particularly evident in various camera upgrades. Qualcomm has announced that devices equipped with this processor will hit the market in the second half of 2023. Furthermore, they mentioned that Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand and other smartphone manufacturers like vivo would soon adopt this chipset. Referring to previous leaks from Gizcoupon, the highly anticipated Xiaomi device will likely be the Redmi Note 12R. Rumors suggest that this phone will be launched on June 30th, with a starting price of 1,099 yuan (approximately 153 USD).
