On June 24th, Gizcoupon reported that YouTube is currently testing an AI-powered voiceover feature called Aloud. It can translate video content into other languages.
Gizcoupon obtained information from official sources, stating that although YouTube currently has an automatic translation feature, it can only present the translated content in the form of subtitles. However, with the introduction of voiceover translation, the content can be delivered in a more familiar language, making it easier to attract viewers.

YouTube Aloud feature is developed by Area 120, an internal startup unit of Google. It utilizes AI technology to convert spoken content into different languages, completing the process in just a few minutes. The workflow involves converting the original content into text, performing the translation, and then generating corresponding oral narration content using AI. This feature enables creators to transform their video content into different language versions, saving costs on translation and dubbing.
With this feature, creators have the flexibility to edit and adjust the translated content. They can choose to generate content in different languages automatically. Currently, this feature is only available for English videos and can generate oral narration content in Spanish and Portuguese. However, it is expected to support more languages in the future.
