On May 20th, Gizcoupon reported that according to the latest foldable smartphones report released by DSCC, a screen supply chain consulting company, the shipment volume of foldable smartphones in the first quarter of 2023 reached 2.1 million units. This marks a consecutive decline for two quarters.
The report highlights that the shipment volume of foldable smartphones peaked in the third quarter of 2022, with a total of over 6 million units. Furthermore, the overall growth for all OEMs exceeded 500%.
In terms of brand segmentation, Samsung maintains its position as the industry leader, with a market share of 45%. In addition, OPPO secures the second position with a market share of 21%.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 emerged as the most popular foldable smartphone in the first quarter of 2023. It captured a market share of 27%.
Gizcoupon includes a screenshot of a tweet revealing that the second most popular foldable phone is the Huawei Pocket S, accounting for 15% of the market share. Following closely is the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with a share of 13%, followed by the OPPO Find N2 Flip with 11%, and the Huawei Mate X3 with 6%.
