Last year, ASUS launched the new product line Zenbook and the first laptop of the series was Zenbook Pro16. At that time, its first 16-inch 4K OLED screen and the first DialPad virtual knob made it stand out. This combination is undoubtedly very attractive to creative production groups. 

ASUS took advantage of the victory to further optimize the motherboard design on the basis of inheriting the advantages of the ASUS Zenbook Pro16 series and introduced additional memory and hard drives into the Zenbook Pro16, creating a brand new Zenbook Pro16 2022.

Design

Although Zenbook Pro16 2022 still belongs to the Zenbook Pro16 series. The sense of quality and refinement is more prominent when you get started. The edge of the all-metal body is smooth and does not cut hands, and the fresh green color makes it even thinner.

Interface

On the left is a DC power interface, a 2.5G wired network port, a USB-A 5Gbps interface, and a MicroSD Express 7.1 (985MB/s ) card reader; on the right is a Thunderbolt 4 and a full-featured USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, which supports PD charging and DP power output, and there is also a USB-A 10Gbps interface and 3.5mm headphone jack, which expands to the game At this level, there is no need to carry an expansion dock when going out.

Hardware

The memory aspect deserves big praise. Zenbook Pro16 2022 adopts the onboard 16GB + plug-in 16GB solution to form a 32G DDR5 dual channel, which achieves high performance and takes into account scalability. Some creative workers have a rigid need for memory size; this design can be described as very considerate. The one in our hands is equipped with an Intel AX211 wireless network card, supports the Wi-Fi 6E protocol, and has very good performance.

At the bottom is a 90Wh battery. This battery can be said to be quite large. Although the two cores consume a lot of power, I believe they can still provide good battery life.

Performance

Next, let’s take a look at its theoretical running points and actual experience. The first is the high-end standard pressure processor i7-12700H of the intel mobile terminal, which has 14 cores and 20 threads, with a base frequency of 2.69GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7GHz. The R20 scored 691 points in single-core and 7053 points in multi-core.

When we evaluated the Zenbook Pro16 last year, I made some complaints about the lack of support for storage expansion, PD charging, and the lack of a high refresh rate. Now we are pleasantly surprised to see that these problems have been solved on Zenbook Pro16 2022. The performance is more powerful, and the scalability is greatly improved. At the same time, the introduction of a 120Hz OLED high-refresh large screen also gives it the attributes of taking into account games.
