The Xiaomi Mi 13 is on the way. It will hit the market immediately after the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s official announcement. Thus, in late November or early December, we’ll be able to get our hands on it. The series will have several variants. Today, a well-known Weibo tipster talked about the Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra charging speed. He thinks it will be 100W.
As we know, the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra supports 67W wired fast charging. Thus, it falls behind the Xiaomi Mi 12S Pro, which supports 120W wired fast charging. According to the official introduction, the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra can charge the 4860mAh battery to 100% in just 41 minutes. This is much better than the similar data of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
So it turns out that though the Ultra series models do not come with the fastest charging speed, they are still ahead of rivals. If this info is accurate and it can reach the 120W level, the battery will be able to reach 100% in about 20 minutes.
Before this, from the same source, we learned that the Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra would continue to use a 1-inch super outsole. The specific model number is unknown. But we assume it will be the Sony IMX989 of the Mi 12S Ultra. Xiaomi and Sony jointly develop this sensor. The Xiaomi engineer team participated in the specification definition. Sony recognized Xiaomi’s research and development work by email.
Lei Jun said that the development cost of Sony IMX989 is $15 million. Xiaomi and Sony each bear half of it. This is not only a milestone for Xiaomi but also a milestone in the field of mobile imaging.
Compared with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the Sony IMX989 has a 72% increase in the photosensitive area, a 76% increase in the photosensitive capacity, a 32.5% increase in the camera speed, and an 11% increase in the startup speed.
This sensor was first applied to the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra. But Xiaomi will use it in other flagship models as well.
