Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G today. Both phones share similarities in design and features, including three color options: Awesome IceCube, Awesome Navy, and Awesome Lilac.
Display
Both Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G sport identical 6.6-inch displays with a Super AMOLED panel boasting a resolution of 1080×2340. The screens support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and house a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, following the latest Key Island design language.
Hardware
The Galaxy A55 5G features the Exynos 1480 processor and an Xclipse 530 GPU, which is based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture, in terms of performance. It offers a storage configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. On the other hand, the Galaxy A35 5G features last year’s Galaxy A54’s Exynos 1380 processor, also with a 5nm process, and provides 8GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Cameras and other features
The Galaxy A55 5G boasts a 32MP front camera and a rear camera module comprising a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 aperture), and a 5MP macro lens (f/2.4 aperture). In contrast, the Galaxy A35 5G features a 13MP front camera and a rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 aperture), and a 5MP macro lens (f/2.4 aperture).
Samsung introduces the Knox Vault security processing unit in the A series. This hardware-isolated execution environment effectively safeguards critical user data such as lock screen credentials and encryption keys. The Knox security platform also provides optional automatic interception measures to block suspicious app installations, scan for malware, and intercept malicious commands.
Both new devices come pre-installed with the One UI 6.1 system based on Android 14. Samsung promises four years of Android major operating system updates and five years of security patch updates for these mid-range devices.
