Gizcoupon reported on April 20th that market research firm Canalys released a report on the Indian smartphone market today stating that the shipment volume of mobile phones in India for Q1 2023 was 30.6 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 20%.

Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia stated that the Indian smartphone market faced difficulties earlier this year, but suppliers continue to drive market development and remain optimistic about long-term prospects. As economic indicators at the end of Q4 2022 clearly indicated that demand would remain sluggish in the short term, a similar situation arose in Q1 2023.
The Indian mobile phone market is highly competitive, with multiple brands vying for market share. In addition to Samsung, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, and realme, other popular brands in India include Apple, Nokia, and OnePlus.
