The Reno series from OPPO continues to grow and the latest models are Reno 6 / Pro / Pro+. The Reno 6 / Pro models come with similar and even identical specs, sporting the Dimensity 1200 chipset, while the Pro+ sports the Snapdragon 870. So, we decided to see how the Reno 6 Pro+ competes with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra sporting the Snapdragon 888. Though at first sight, they are from different weight classes, these are the most outstanding phones of the two brands.
The Mi 11 Ultra has dimensions of 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.4mm. The camera bump isn’t included there, but it pushes the thickness over 10mm. It weighs 234g. So, it’s not a light phone at all. Because of its quite big dimensions, it is difficult to fit in the pocket. The phone comes with a glass back made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. On the right edge of the phone are the power button – easy to reach and volume button.
The OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ has dimensions of 160.8×72.5×7.99mm. The selfie camera is placed on the top left corner of the display. And it weighs only 188g. In this sense, the OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ has a more convenient body, it is lightweight and slimmer than the Xiaomi phone. Unlike the Mi 11 Ultra, this smartphone comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is also worth noting that both phones are IP68 waterproof and +dustproof.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra comes with a 6.81-inch AMOLED display. It has a 1440x3200px resolution in a 20:9 aspect ratio, and the pixel density works out to 515ppi. In terms of the refresh rates, it can be set to either High or Standard refresh rates. Standard is the usual 60Hz and High is the 120Hz capable mode. Moreover, the Mi 11 Ultra can dynamically switch between 30, 60, 90, and 120Hz depending on the thing shown on the display and how you interact with the phone. On the other hand, the phone also supports a 480Hz refresh rate for blazing-fast registering of touch input.
The display of the Mi 11 Ultra also supports HDR10+ mode and Dolby Vision, which you do not get on the Mi 11. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Youtube support HDR content on this phone.
The OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ features a 6.55-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. Comparing with the Mi 11 Ultra, we can see that OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ supports only a 90Hz refresh rate.
The Mi 11 Ultra comes in a built-in battery with a capacity of 5000mAh. It is an upgrade over the 4500mAh capacity of the last model. In addition, it comes with a 67W wired and 67W wireless fast-charging support. Due to 67W fast charging abilities, you can charge the Mi 11 Ultra with 100% only in 39 minutes. On the other hand, the smartphone features 10W reverse wireless charging. Wireless reverse charging is a feature that allows you to use your phone to charge other devices (such as a smartphone, smartwatch, and smart band) that support wireless charging.
The Reno 6 Pro+ has a non-removable 4500mAh battery and also supports 65W fast charging. It does not support reverse wireless charging. This means that the Reno 6 Pro+ is slightly inferior to the Xiaomi device in terms of battery capacities.
Moving to optics, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra features a rear dual-outsole main camera + 120 times periscope lens. The main camera is a 50-megapixel. The rear camera also appears to have a tiny second display that mirrors what’s on the main screen and could potentially be used to take selfies with the better cameras. In addition, it also has a 48MP wide-angle, and a 48MP zoom. Xiaomi said that the brand has worked hard on the Ultra Night Photo algorithms. The latter combined with the 1/1.5″ large 50MP sensor ensures that you get clear and colorful photos even when the lighting goes down.
There is a quad-camera setup on the back of Oppo Reno 6 Pro+ as well. The main camera has a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 16-megapixel secondary, a 13-megapixel tertiary, and a 2-megapixel quaternary sensor.
Memory and Storage
The Mi 11 Ultra is packed with 8GB / 12GB RAM and 256GB / 512GB internal storage. The phone has a dual-SIM slot, but no microSD card slot, so there’s no expandable storage.
The Reno 6 Pro+ features 8GB / 12GB RAM and 128GB / 256GB internal storage. Like the Xiaomi device, this smartphone does not support microSD.
The Mi 11 Ultra runs on Android 11 + MIUI 12.5 OS. In addition, the smartphone sports the Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor. It also features a USB Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go, GPS with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS.
The Reno 6 Pro+ sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and it runs on Android 11-based ColorOS 11. Connectivity features include 5G/4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
