Tonight, Xiaomi officially launches and unveils its first car, the Xiaomi SU7. The car is positioned as a “C-class high-performance eco-technology sedan.” It offers both dual-motor and single-motor versions and a choice between 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh battery capacities, with prices ranging from 215,900 to 299,900 yuan.
Xiaomi SU7 Released with 3 Different Veriants
The Xiaomi SU7 offers three models. The standard version comes with a single motor, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds, has a CLTC range of 700 kilometers, 19-inch Michelin tires, a 73.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery, 15-minute recharging for 350 km, Xiaomi Pilot Pro with lifelong free visual intelligence driving, and Xiaomi’s immersive intelligent cockpit, priced at 215,900 yuan.
The Xiaomi SU7 Pro version adds a 20.7 kWh battery, laser radar, and Xiaomi Smart Drive Max urban NOA on top of the standard version, priced at 245,900 yuan.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max version features dual motors, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds, reaches a top speed of 265 km/h, CLTC range of 800 km, 101 kWh Kirin lithium battery, 15-minute recharging for 510 km, Xiaomi Pilot Max, and Xiaomi’s immersive intelligent cockpit, priced at 299,900 yuan.
Xiaomi SU7 also introduces the Founders Edition, including SU7 Standard Founders Edition with freebies like a refrigerator, deluxe 25-speaker audio system, and Nappa leather seats. SU7 Max Founders Edition includes a refrigerator, Nappa leather seats, and 20-inch alloy wheels as complimentary, with color options like Gulf Blue, Elegant Grey, Olive Green, Sunset Purple, Meteor Blue, Basalt Grey, and Lava Orange, limited to 5000 units, priced at 215,900 yuan and 299,900 yuan respectively, with deliveries starting on April 3.
Xiaomi SU7 series is now available for pre-order. Xiaomi SU7 / Xiaomi SU7 Max deliveries are expected to start by the end of April, while Xiaomi SU7 Pro deliveries are expected to commence by the end of May.
At the press conference, Lei Jun shared Xiaomi’s 2023 financial report. They have 641 million monthly active users worldwide, which is good for their car plans. Xiaomi plans to invest 24 billion yuan in R&D in 2024 for cars. The Xiaomi SU7 went through tests in 300 cities, covering 5.4 million kilometers with 576 cars. Lei Jun said making cars is tough; even Apple gave up. Xiaomi aims to make the best car under 500,000 yuan, stylish, high-performance, and smart.
Design
The Xiaomi SU7 is 4997mm long, 1963mm wide, and 1440mm tall, with a 3000mm wheelbase. It has a sleek design with golden ratio proportions in size. Familiar design elements include teardrop-shaped headlights, halo-shaped taillights, a 175° rippled surface, and semi-concealed door handles. It also has a low drag coefficient of 0.195Cd, with 8 air channels and 17 genuine air inlets.
Xiaomi SU7 comes in 9 colors: Gulf Blue, Lava Orange, Elegant Gray, Meteor Blue, Aurora Purple, Olive Green, Basalt Gray, Pearl White, and Diamond Black. It also has 4 more colors: Galaxy Gray, Twilight Red, Mist Purple, and Obsidian Black. There are 4 hub and tire combos, up to 21 inches in size.
The Xiaomi SU7 has ADB Adaptive High Beam Headlights. These lights use AI image recognition to adjust automatically based on light conditions, avoiding glare and other vehicles. Inside, it has Nappa leather seats and a 25-speaker audio system with headrest speakers. The car also has a total glass area of 5.35 square meters, including a panoramic sunroof and front windshield glass, all with UV and infrared ray protection.
The Xiaomi SU7 has 32 storage compartments for phones, umbrellas, and documents. It includes a front and rear-accessible smart refrigerator. It has anti-roll and noise isolation features. The trunk has 517 liters of volume. The front trunk has 105 liters of storage. It has a built-in 1/4-inch threaded interface. An optional car phone holder costs 99 yuan.
Moving to the driver’s area, the Xiaomi SU7 adopts a centrally symmetrical design, equipped with a 7.1-inch flip-up instrument screen and a 56-inch wide-angle HUD. It features a three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel with two physical buttons for one-touch activation of intelligent driving and Boost mode, with seats supporting active side bolster support.
Power
The Xiaomi SU7 runs on Xiaomi’s HyperEngine, available in two versions: V6 and V6s. V6 hits 220 kW power and 400 Nm torque, while V6s offers 275 kW power and 500 Nm torque. In the dual-motor AWD. It uses the Super Motor V6s with 673 Ps horsepower, 495 kW peak power, 838 Nm peak torque, 2.78s 0-100 km/h acceleration, and 265 km/h top speed.
The Xiaomi SU7 has an intelligent chassis. It has a full-aluminum front double ball joint double wishbone suspension. Also, it features a rear five-link independent suspension. It includes a closed-loop air spring system, improving controllability by 100%. This model supports 4-stage height adjustment and maintains a 50:50 weight distribution. With a low center of gravity of 443mm, it ensures stability. It’s equipped with the Bosch ESP10.0 body stability system and Bosch DPB brake controller for safety. The CDC damping variable shock absorber further enhances its performance. Notably, it includes a full-stack self-developed chassis control algorithm, enabling smooth braking with CST support.
Xiaomi SU7 supports one-key Boost, providing 20 seconds of peak torque power output upon activation, supporting launch control, sporty engine sound, drift mode, safe novice mode, and customizable driving modes.
Xiaomi SU7 has a CLTC-rated range of 700 km. The Max version in China offers sub-2-second acceleration and an 800 km range. The SU7 models feature “global silicon carbide” technology. The Max version uses an 871V high-voltage platform, replenishing 510 km in 15 minutes. The standard version uses a 486V high-voltage platform, replenishing 350 km in 15 minutes. This technology is 99% compatible with high-power three-party charging piles. Xiaomi SU7 also offers various home charging pile options.
Charging
Xiaomi also introduces home charging piles, priced at 3999 yuan for the 7kW version and 5999 yuan for the 11kW version. They also launch the Mijia portable charging and discharging gun for vehicles, offering combined charging and discharging capabilities with a rated charging power of 2.8kW and a maximum external discharge power of 3.5kW, priced at 799 yuan. Xiaomi further announces plans for the construction of Xiaomi Super Charging Stations, featuring a 600kW liquid-cooled supercharging solution, with initial plans for cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou.
Xiaomi SU7 employs a fully self-developed intelligent driving solution, with real-car road tests spanning 10 million kilometers. Both high and low configurations originate from the same technology, supporting valet parking and parking in extremely narrow spaces across the entire lineup. Upon its high-speed navigation debut, it was immediately delivered, with urban navigation set to roll out nationwide in August. Xiaomi aims to enter the forefront of the smart driving industry by 2024.
Regarding the smart cabin, Xiaomi SU7 features the Xiaomi HyperConnect Cabin based on the Xiaomi HyperOS. The lineup features the flagship 8295 chip platform as standard, powering a 3K resolution 16.1-inch central control screen supporting five-screen linkage. With a desktop application card layout, users have the flexibility to adjust window sizes as they please. Moreover, leveraging the Xiaomi HyperConnect cross-platform connectivity framework, the vehicle seamlessly connects to the central control screen when the owner’s phone or pad with the same account enters the vehicle. This connection automatically completes recognition, security authentication, connection, and other complex steps. Additionally, the Marvelous Desktop allows for one-click mirroring of mobile applications to the vehicle display, while a one-click PIN application delivers a native vehicle experience.
In terms of vehicle-home connectivity, Xiaomi SU7 supports prepping the car from home. It allowing users to simply voice command the activation of the car’s air conditioning and seat heating. Users can also access home cameras anytime and engage in a one-click doorbell intercom. Setting up geographical fences triggers the homecoming mode upon entering the community.
Five-screen Support
Xiaomi SU7 supports five-screen linkage, with the rear screen supporting native expansion, automatically activating the native car control interface. It supports over 30 car control functions including navigation, music playback, and seat adjustment. Xiaomi also introduced a car karaoke microphone compatible with the vehicle’s central control screen and Xiaomi TV, priced at 499 yuan. Xiaomi SU7 supports deep car control via Xiaoai Assistant voice commands, even recognizing vague instructions, and facilitating five-tone zone voice interactions, enhanced by AI large model capabilities.
Fully equipped with rich ecological expansion interfaces, Xiaomi SU7’s versatile central control screen allows expansion on all four sides. Users can freely switch between various options like fragrance diffusers, intercoms, and speakers on the central control console. The seat back tablet bracket supports easy mounting of Xiaomi tablets or iPads, along with three standard 1/4 thread interfaces for secure connections.
Moreover, Xiaomi SU7 supports wireless CarPlay and iPad integration, offering control over functions like air conditioning, seats, and multimedia.
In terms of safety, the Xiaomi SU7 adopts an armored cage-style steel-aluminum hybrid body with seven built-in airbags. It comes standard with 16 active safety configurations and undergoes testing validation of over 1050 battery safety items. With multi-account privacy isolation and one-click privacy mode support, users can enjoy enhanced security features.
