Previous reports indicated that Xiaomi would launch its first vertical folding flagship, named MIX Flip, in the first half of this year. According to the latest update from blogger @数码闲聊站, the company has made changes to the initial plan for the device. The originally intended satellite communication feature has been scrapped, while the large battery and telephoto lens have been retained.
Furthermore, we expect that canceling the satellite communication feature will reduce the selling price by approximately 500 yuan, a notable reduction. This change benefits most users who wouldn’t utilize this function, saving them from paying extra for an unused feature. There’s potential for a separate satellite communication version in the future.
Incorporating other features, MIX Flip will integrate a domestic screen and utilize zero-sensing crease technology to ensure a smoother surface at the crease. Additionally, the design will adopt a dual-screen solution, incorporating a secondary screen for notifications and quick information access, thus eliminating the need to open the device every time.
Initial design drawings reveal that the secondary screen on the back of the Xiaomi MIX Flip will be larger, offering a more practical information display. Positioned above this secondary screen is a Leica imaging system arranged horizontally, likely to enhance the quality of vertically folded images.
