Samsung Applies For “Flex Magic” Trademark to Advance XR Headset

The United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO) revealed a roster on the 14th of this month, where Samsung secured a patent for a product named “Flex Magic.” This new brand suggests its application to the forthcoming era of Samsung XR headset.

In the trademark description, Samsung articulated that the trademark is relevant to items like 3D eyewear, virtual reality headgear, virtual reality eyepieces, and intelligent eyeglasses. Samsung submitted the same trademark application to the European Patent Office in November.

While there’s no immediate correlation between the trademark application and practical implementation, it does signify Samsung’s active promotion of Samsung XR headset products. As per insights from Korean industry experts, Samsung intends to unveil a Samsung XR headset in the latter part of the coming year, with the codename “Infinite.” The release is planned before the year’s end, and the initial production target for this headset is 30,000 units, featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon’s next-gen XR chip.

Initially slated for mass production at the beginning of this year, Samsung altered its plans upon reviewing the specifications of Apple Vision Pro. Recognizing the need for comprehensive adjustments to enhance competitiveness, Samsung postponed the release to the upcoming year.
