Apple iOS 17.1.2 Update Now Available For iPhone And iPad

Apple has pushed the iOS 17.1.2 update to iPhone users, with the internal version number being 21B101. According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 17.1.2 fixes critical vulnerabilities that could be exploited in earlier versions:

  1. Resolving the potential leakage of sensitive information when handling web content. Apple received reports suggesting exploitation of this issue in iOS versions prior to 16.7.1.
  2. Addressing the possibility of arbitrary code execution when handling web content. Apple was informed of reports indicating potential exploitation of this issue in iOS versions before 16.7.1.

For the upgrade to iOS 17.1.2/iPadOS 17.1.2, follow these steps:

  1. As a precaution, back up all device data (using tools like iMobie PhoneTrans).
  2. Ensure the device has sufficient storage and ample battery before initiating the upgrade. Connect the device to power during the upgrade.
  3. Note that after upgrading, downgrading to Apple’s officially unsupported iOS versions is not possible.
