Xiaomi Automobile Borrows Production Qualifications From BAIC Group

Tenna’s supply chain information reveals that Xiaomi Group, not BAIC Group, manufactures the Xiaomi cars listed online. Xiaomi produces these vehicles at its Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone factory. Moreover, Xiaomi’s network information from Tenna specifies the trademark for Xiaomi Automobile products as “Xiaomi Brand.” The company, named “BAIC Group Off-Road Vehicle Co., Ltd.,” is based in Shunyi District, Beijing, and produces vehicles at Xiaomi Auto’s factory on Huanjing Road in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, insiders suggest that obtaining production qualifications can be achieved through acquiring other car brands, taking the OEM route, or establishing self-built factories. As of now, it is evident from the exposed information that Xiaomi Motors has not fully resolved its production qualification issue. Even though production occurs in a self-built factory, the declared company name remains BAIC Off-Road Vehicles. This indicates that Xiaomi Motors may temporarily utilize BAIC’s production qualifications initially and seek independent qualifications.

Xiaomi’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, previously stated that Xiaomi’s inaugural model would officially launch in the first half of 2024. Stay tuned with us for more future updates.
