Although BOE’s supply commenced later than its counterparts. Recent reports indicate that it has started providing screens for Apple’s iPhone 15 standard version. BOE recently obtained certifications for the OLED panel of the iPhone 15 standard model (6.1 inches) and has commenced shipments. By the end of this year, BOE is expected to manufacture 2 million units of OLED panels for the standard version of the iPhone 15.

Deviation from the original schedule has affected BOE’s supply timeline. Ideally, BOE should have initiated supply in July or August in alignment with the iPhone’s release schedule. However, due to quality issues and delayed certification, BOE’s supply was postponed. The original plan included providing OLED panels for both the iPhone15 (6.1-inch) and (6.7-inch) models. The iPhone15 has already received certification, with expectations that the Plus model will follow suit later this year.

Previously, Samsung Display and LG Display supplied OLED screens for the iPhone 15. Samsung Display covered all four models, while LG Display was responsible for the two iPhone15 Pro models. Specifically, the iPhone Pro and Pro Max featured lower-power low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED screens, while the standard models used low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) OLED screens.

Market research company Stone Partners forecasts that the iPhone 15 series will ship 87 million units this year. The iPhone 15 series is anticipated to exceed this figure by about 30%. It reached a total OLED screen supply of 115 million units. Samsung is anticipated to contribute 71%, LG 26%, and BOE 3% to the overall supply.
