Apple iOS 17.1.1: NFC Bug Fix for iPhone 15 Wireless Charging

On November 8th, Apple rolled out the official iOS 17.1.1 update to iPhone users, bearing the internal build number 21B91. According to the release notes, this update primarily addresses issues specific to iPhones.

Specifically, this update fixes an issue that occurs in very rare instances: when using wireless charging in certain cars with iPhone 15 series models, there might be a problem with Apple Pay and other NFC functions not working. Moreover, Apple iOS 17.1.1 resolves a bug where the “Weather” lock screen widget may fail to display snowfall correctly.

It’s worth noting that back in October, Apple acknowledged that iPhone 15 series users experienced NFC functionality disabling when using wireless charging in BMW and Toyota Supra models. This issue led to system alerts stating “Unable to set up Apple Pay,” thereby hindering users from making payments through Apple Pay and potentially affecting other NFC-based features like digital car keys.

However, after Apple released iOS 17, various bugs started surfacing, causing inconveniences for users. For instance, issues like screen burn-in and overheating were reported on iPhone 15 Pro series devices. Consequently, Apple has been continuously addressing these problems to alleviate user concerns.
