Apple 240W USB-C Cable: Supports Charging For Apple 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro Models

Apple silently added a 2-meter-long, 240W USB-C charging cable to its official website, supporting USB 2.0 speed. This 243 yuan (about $33) USB-C charging cable in the Chinese market deserves attention, despite its lack of compatibility with the iPhone 15 series.

Apple 240W USB-C Cable

According to Apple’s latest support documentation, the recently released 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro can charge at a speed of 140W using this 240W USB-C charging cable. It’s worth mentioning that the MacBook Pro models introduced earlier used MagSafe interfaces. So, if you’re charging the 2021 and 2022 models of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, you’ll need to use a USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable, capped at a max power of 140W.

While the Apple 240W USB-C Cable has support for up to 240W fast charging technology, the current Apple-provided adapters cap at 140W for fast charging. Consequently, this hinders the MacBook Pro’s charging speed, limiting it to a maximum of 140W. However, there’s anticipation for an upcoming 240W adapter from Apple, which is expected to alleviate this constraint.

In general, while third-party channels may offer price advantages, consumers still need to exercise caution when making a purchase. On the one hand, they should consider the quality of the product and the after-sales service, where third-party channels may be slightly lacking compared to official channels. On the other hand, it’s essential to choose based on individual needs, such as configurations like memory and storage, ensuring they align with one’s usage requirements.
