Xiaomi officially launched the Xiaomi 14 series at a starting price of 3999 yuan (about $546) in a press conference on October 27.
We’ve already detailed the specifications of the Xiaomi 14 series models in our report; we won’t elaborate on them here. It’s worth mentioning that the USB-C interface on the Xiaomi 14 series now supports high-speed data transmission. The Xiaomi 14 supports a 5Gbps transfer speed (theoretical transfer speed is around 500MB/s), and the Xiaomi 14 Pro supports a 10Gbps transfer speed (theoretical transfer speed is approximately 1GB/s). You can find this information on the this series model’s specification page.
The USB-C interface on these phones not only supports charging and data transfer but also has the capability to transmit video signals. After inquiring with customer support at Xiaomi’s JD.com flagship store, we received a response confirming that the USB-C interface of the Xiaomi14 series phones supports video signal transmission with a transmission specification of DP1.2.
However, when it comes to the specific resolutions at which video signals can be transmitted, customer support has not provided concrete information at the moment. Interested individuals can try it out for themselves.
The fact that the Xiaomi 14 series smartphones’ interfaces support video output means that users can connect their phones directly to a USB-C compatible monitor that supports video transmission using a C to-C data cable. This allows them to mirror their phone’s display on the monitor for a better viewing experience. Furthermore, users can even connect a keyboard and mouse for simple office tasks.
