Qualcomm has officially released its new flagship mobile platform, the “Snapdragon 8 Gen3,” in Hawaii. This generation of Snapdragon 8 is referred to as the third in Chinese. During the press conference, Lu Weibing made a personal appearance and announced that the Xiaomi 14 will, for the first time, come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. He also mentioned on the spot that Xiaomi 14’s initial batch of chip orders from Qualcomm is twice the size of the previous generation.
Following this announcement, Xiaomi Mobile took to Weibo to reiterate the news that the Xiaomi 14 series will indeed feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. Note that TSMC manufactures the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 using their advanced 4nm process. The CPU component of the Kryo 64-bit includes a primary processor core based on Arm Cortex-X4, boasting a clock frequency of up to 3.3GHz. Additionally, there are five performance cores based on Arm Cortex-A720, running at a clock frequency of up to 3.2GHz, as well as two efficiency cores based on Cortex-A520, with a clock frequency of up to 2.3GHz.
Official statements claim a 30% improvement in performance and a 20% increase in energy efficiency. The Adreno 750 GPU has seen a 25% performance boost and a 25% increase in energy efficiency. It also supports AFMF (Image Motion Engine 2.0) and is capable of achieving an ultra-high frame rate of 240FPS in mobile games. The developers have further enhanced the ray tracing effect, and it now supports Unreal 5.
The AI performance has reached an impressive +98%, with a remarkable +40% boost in energy efficiency. We upgraded the baseband to the X75 5G Modem, delivering peak download speeds of 10Gbps and upload speeds of 3.5Gbps.
