Xiaomi 14 Series: The New “Leica Summilux Lens” Arrives

Xiaomi previously announced that it would officially release the Xiaomi 14 series on October 26 at 7 p.m., coinciding with the debut of ThePaper OS. Today, the company continues to warm up for the upcoming phone.

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro still comprise a pairing of one large and one small device. The official statement indicates that the two mobile phones possess distinct shapes, and accompanying these revelations are silhouette posters. Observant netizens have deduced that the new phones incorporate a right-angled frame and a straight screen design through image processing. The camera module remains relatively large, showing minimal deviation from the Xiaomii 13 series.

Moreover, Xiaomi has provided insight into the imaging capabilities of the new device. In addition to the previously announced Leica optical Summilux lens, renowned for its combination of large aperture and ultra-high speed. The new device will incorporate an ultra-high dynamic range and an ultra-large photosensitive area. The new sensor brand, known as “Light and Shadow Hunter,” officially confirmed that Xiaomi and Leica have collaborated to establish a novel optical system. This partnership promises exceptional and precise capturing capabilities in all scenarios and at all times on mobile devices.

Regarding the Summilux lens, officials assert that it offers enhanced light input, faster shutter response, superior blur capabilities, and improved nighttime performance. The promotional materials indicate that the lens boasts an ultra-large aperture of f/1.6, significantly boosting light intake. It employs a multi-layer nano-ALD ultra-low reflection coating with a mere 0.15% reflectivity.

According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi 14 series is equipped with a primary camera referred to as the “Light and Shadow Hunter” coupled with a Leica Summilux lens. It features an f/1.6 large aperture ultra-large primary camera and a 3.2X upright telephoto. The aperture range spans from f/1.6 to f/2.2, with a focal length covering 14mm to 75mm.
