Apple TV 2024 Unveiled: A16 Chip, Improved Wi-Fi, and More

Apple is secretly developing a new 4K Apple TV internally, and reports suggest that Apple will release the Apple TV 2024 in 2024. The internationally renowned technology media MacRumors recently published an article compiling various relevant information about this new generation of Apple TV.

We understand that the new Apple TV will maintain the traditional appearance design of previous years with minimal changes. Similar to the existing Apple TV, this new product still features a slim black plastic casing.

Furthermore, MacRumors reports that the new generation of Apple TV 2024 will come equipped with a new A-series chip, replacing the current A15 Bionic chip. Apple typically doesn’t design chips specifically for Apple TV, but there are indications that the new Apple TV might use the A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 15 standard version. Alternatively, they might use the A17 Pro chip featured in the iPhone 15 Pro, although the probability is smaller.

This would provide users with a gaming experience comparable to that of a gaming console. The A17 Pro chip is Apple’s first chip to use a 3-nanometer process, featuring a 6-core GPU and supporting hardware-accelerated ray tracing for more realistic game graphics.

In terms of network connection, the new Apple TV may adopt a more modern Wi-Fi protocol, although it has not yet disclosed the specific protocol standard. Given that the iPhone 15 Pro already supports Wi-Fi 6E and there are rumors of Apple introducing Wi-Fi 7 to the iPhone next year, we expect that the new Apple TV will, at the very least, support Wi-Fi 6E.

Regarding other connection options, the new Apple TV is likely to continue the current model, offering both a Wi-Fi version and a Wi-Fi + Ethernet version while incorporating Bluetooth 5.3 technology.

Apple TV, a cornerstone of smart home products, is expected to continue to support Thread integration and Matter.
