Quest 3 has undergone significant hardware improvements. The new headset employs Pancake lens technology to make the body thinner and lighter, and it introduces an improved headband design. The top strap divides into two, aiding in distributing the weight of the headset more evenly and providing a more comfortable wearing experience. Despite a slight increase in overall weight to 515 grams, the redesign of Quest 3 enhances its comfort. Moreover, Quest 3 has upgraded its speakers to deliver higher-quality audio while reducing sound leakage.

Quest 3 boasts the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip and incorporates 8GB of internal memory. Quest 3’s graphics performance surpasses Quest 2, doubling its capabilities and outclassing Quest Pro, which had the previous generation XR2 chip. Furthermore, Quest 3 provides two storage options. The 128GB model costs about $480, and the 512GB version is priced at about $629.

The Quest 3 has improved its display resolution, featuring a 2064×2208 LCD display in each eye, compared to the Quest 2’s 1832×1920. This makes reading text within the headset easier for users. Moreover, the Quest 3 offers 90Hz/120Hz refresh rates and has a 110-degree horizontal field of view and a 96-degree vertical field of view, which is about 15% more than the Quest 2. Users can adjust the lenses to suit their interpupillary distance using the wheel on the outside of the headset. The battery life of Quest 3 is about two hours and 12 minutes, comparable to that of Quest 2.
