The Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD has officially launched on Samsung’s international website and e-commerce platforms. However, information about it in China is still limited.
This Samsung SSD offers a solution to heat dissipation issues caused by the full-speed PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. Samsung also offers a version with an aluminum heat sink for $355.
Official information confirms that the design and performance of the 990 PRO 4TB have remained largely unchanged from the previous version. It uses Samsung’s 8th generation V-NAND technology and an improved Samsung self-developed controller. It brings its performance close to the theoretical upper limit of PCIe 4.0. Also, Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD features an M.2 2280 interface, supports PCIe 4.0 x4, and is compatible with NVMe 2.0. The sequential read speed can reach up to 7450MB/s, while the sequential write speed can reach up to 6900GB/s. Moreover, it has a random read speed of 1.4 million IOPS and a random write speed of 15.5 million IOPS.
