On October 6, Microsoft officially released the Visual Studio (VS) Code C# development kit, following its preview version release in June. During the four-month testing and adjustment period, Microsoft addressed over 350 issues, primarily driven by user feedback.
Moreover, Microsoft implemented more than 300 targeted improvements to enhance the product. User feedback played a pivotal role in expediting the official release of the C# development kit, granting Visual Studio subscribers full access to C# support. The team remains committed to continuous enhancements in performance and reliability, with the promise of introducing new features each month.
The C# Dev Kit comprises three integral components. Firstly, the C# extension offers essential language service support and will be independently maintained. Secondly, the C# Dev Kit extension, built upon Visual Studio, provides a comprehensive suite of features, including solution management, templates, testing, debugging, and more. Additionally, users have the option to incorporate the IntelliCode for C# Dev Kit extension, which brings AI-driven development experiences right into the editor.
The Microsoft C# Development Kit leverages core C# language services to feedback and improve development workflows for MAUI and Unity in VS Code.
