The Nintendo Switch 2 revelations have surfaced once again, and in the latest video on the RedGamingTech YouTube channel, anchor Paul Eccleston unveiled the latest pertinent details about the Nintendo Switch 2 game console. This time, the focus is on comprehensive insights into the chip that will power the Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 Features
According to reports, the Nintendo Switch 2 will incorporate an 8-core Cortex-A78 CPU, along with 12 Ampere architecture Stream Multi-processors (SM), and an impressive 128-bit 12GB LPDDR5 memory. Notably, it utilizes mixed clock frequencies, with speeds reaching up to 6400Mbps in base mode and 4800Mbps in handheld mode, alongside claims of 4267Mbps.
In the realm of storage, the eMMC storage options range from 256GB to 512GB, although it remains uncertain whether there are additional storage variants available. While it appears to support DLSS, there is some ambiguity surrounding the specific version it employs. One source indicates it supports DLSS 3.1, while another asserts it is DLSS 3.5. In terms of performance, the base mode falls slightly below the XSS and stands on par with the ASUS ROG game console.
Furthermore, a recent video posted by YouTube user “Doctre 81” sheds light on their discovery of a former physical design engineer’s LinkedIn profile at Siliconist Technologies a few months ago. The engineer worked on Nvidia’s T239 project from February 2020 to October 2022.
More recently, they unearthed the personal information of another former physical design engineer, which provided a more detailed account of their work at the company, further confirming its association with Nvidia. The project summary disclosed the use of a 5nm process node and a maximum clock frequency of 2.653 GHz, surpassing the clock frequency of the original Nintendo Switch SOC TegraX1.
Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing
The current chip in the Nintendo Switch2, along with DLSS support, confirms the need for more storage. Can the Nintendo Switch2 with these rumored specs be priced at $399? The current Nintendo Switch OLED, with modest specs, already sells for $349. With these significant upgrades, a $499 price tag for the Switch 2 seems plausible.
