Xiaomi Sweeper Department Unveiled, Accelerate Smart Cleaning

Xiaomi’s ecological chain department has recently been restructured, establishing new departments like the Intelligent Hardware Department and the Xiaomi Sweeper Department. In this adjustment, it’s worth noting that sweepers have become a separate department. Previously, they were part of the product line of the Cleaning Appliances Division, signifying an elevated status in Xiaomi’s ecological chain.

The Xiaomi Sweeper Department is concurrently led by Chen Weiyang, deputy general manager of the ecological chain department, and reports to Chen Bo, the general manager of the ecological chain department. Additionally, Chen Weiyang also heads the R&D Department of the Ecological Chain Department.

Xiaomi took the pioneering step into the sweeping machine category by collaborating with Stone Technology, an ecological chain company, and launching the Mijia sweeping robot in August 2016, priced at 1,699 yuan. This move initiated a price-performance battle in the sweeping robot industry. Subsequently, Xiaomi further expanded its partnerships with ecological chain companies such as Yunmi and Zhuimi in the sweeping robot category.

Insiders have revealed that this adjustment aims to reorganize the ecological chain categories. After the restructuring, sweeping robots will remain a key category, indicating increased investment from Xiaomi in this segment.

Nonetheless, the relationship between Xiaomi and ecological chain companies has always been complex, as they are both partners and competitors in some critical categories.

According to Aowei Cloud data as of August 2023, Ecovacs leads in the online market sales volume of sweeping robots with 31.8%, followed by Roborock at 20.2%, and Xiaomi at 17.5%. Cloud Whale ranks fourth with 8.8%, while Dreame holds the fifth position with 8.2%.
