Leading up to Apple’s official press conference announcement, analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities indicated a downward revision in the production forecast for the new iPhone due to supply limitations. The initial projection of 83 million units has been adjusted to 77 million units. Similarly, analysts at Japan’s Mizuho Bank revised the estimated production of iPhone 15 units from 84 million to 73 million.

This week, analysts revealed that the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be postponed until October. Meanwhile, the other models are anticipated to be available for purchase on September 22.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s recent report: iPhone 15 shipments worry market due to Pro Max delay. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is commencing mass shipments this week. Additionally, Apple will be ramping up shipments of older models concurrently.

Guo Mingchi noted that Apple has set a target of shipping 250 million units of the latest iPhones in 2024. He opined that a reasonable shipment estimate for 2024 could witness a year-on-year increase of 5-10%.

Reports indicate that Samsung has scaled down its smartphone shipments to 220 million units this year. If Apple maintains its order volume for the second half of 2024, iPhone shipments are projected to reach 220-225 million units in 2023. This achievement would propel Apple ahead of Samsung to become the leading smartphone brand, imparting a sustained positive influence on Apple’s ecosystem.
