Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, recently discussed the folding durability of Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. According to him, the phone underwent 200,000 folding tests in controlled conditions. The results indicate a slight 10-micron crease change, setting a new industry standard.
This achievement means the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3’s crease remains nearly invisible after five years of continuous use. Xiaomi’s innovative keel hinge technology made this possible. The keel shaft features a sophisticated three-stage connecting rod design with 14 joints and 198 components, enhancing screen protection and drop resistance.
The keel hinge technology also allowed the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 to become slimmer when unfolded, reducing the thickness by 8.6% and 2.5% thinner when folded. Cut the hinge width by 8%, reducing the occupied space by 17%.
Regarding specifications, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 has an 8.03-inch 2K display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 mobile platform and equipped with Leica’s quad-camera system. The phone is set to launch on August 14.
