The Xiaomi Smart Ecology division has announced the upcoming launch of the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro, set for 7:00 pm on August 14th. This time, they are introducing something distinct. The new product is currently purchasable in China, with reservations accepted simultaneously.
Before the launch, Xiaomi Smart Ecology team disclosed details about the screen configuration of the upcoming Xiaomi Band 8 Pro. The wristband features a 1.74-inch colorful screen, displaying 16.7 million colors at a 60Hz refresh rate. According to the official statement, this larger display opens up expanded possibilities, potentially ushering in the era of expansive-screen wearables.
The Xiaomi Band 8 Pro’s external design differs from its predecessor, the Band 7 Pro. The Band 7 Pro used a segmented material approach, whereas the Band 8 Pro adopts a seamless single-piece side design. It showcases a curved surface that radiates a metallic sheen, enhancing its overall appearance.
Moreover, there is a likelihood that the Band 8 Pro’s screen-to-body ratio has been enhanced, leading to a reduction in the black bezels surrounding the screen. The black border at the bottom has been narrowed, nearly matching the width of the top bezel. This design refinement resembles a wristwatch. However, it’s important to note that the Band 8 Pro might forgo metal components due to cost considerations. Furthermore, it has a built-in GPS module, which can record the movement track without the mobile phone and supports the NFC function.
In addition to the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro, the 2023 Lei Jun Annual Speech by Xiaomi will unveil more products. These include the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, a new folding screen smartphone, and the Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14, a “rare 14-inch ultra-large tablet.
