Recently, BMW introduced the 2023 facelifted BMW iX model, marking its official launch with three available variants, priced between 746,900(about $103926) and 1,009,900 yuan(about $140521). Notably, the xDrive 50 and M60 models underwent some modifications in features and pricing compared to their previous versions.
BMW iX
In terms of design, the BMW iX has the latest large-size closed double-kidney front grille, concealing various sensors for advanced autonomous driving capabilities. The sleek, elongated headlights on either side incorporate LED daytime running lights, enhancing its futuristic appeal. The front enclosure is fashioned with a design reminiscent of heat dissipation openings, further adding to the model’s contemporary look.
On the performance-focused BMW iX M60, distinctive M design elements, blue M high-performance brake calipers, BMW customized Titan gold exterior components, and a unique high-gloss black Titan gold-edged M logo elevate the sporty aesthetics. The grill’s surface has a special polyurethane protective film with self-healing ability. Minor scratches vanish within 24 hours or 5 minutes of gentle heating, leaving no visible traces.
In the latest iX model of 2023, the interior boasts a seamlessly integrated, gracefully curved floating screen that harmoniously merges a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a generous 14.9-inch touch-sensitive central display. The ingeniously concealed bracket at the back of the net seamlessly combines cutting-edge technology with luxurious elegance. The car has a 30-speaker subwoofer and bass vibrator for immersive sound. It also has far-infrared heating for rapid temperature increase.
BMW xDrive
The current release primarily involved adjustments in the configuration of the models. The xDrive 40 retains its previous pricing and design. However, the xDrive 50 now comes at a reduced cost of RMB 22,000(about $3061) due to the exclusion of the integral active steering system, air suspension, and suspension height adjustment. As for the high-performance M60 variant, the maximum cruising range under CLTC conditions slightly decreased to 625km. The slow charging time was significantly improved to 5.5 hours from the previous 10.75 hours. Consequently, the price has increased by RMB 15,700(about $2184).
Under the hood, the BMW iX M60 has a pure electric drive system. It has front and rear dual motors, delivering 619 horsepower (455kW) and 1100 Nm of peak torque (with a catapult start function in sports mode). The xDrive 40 model offers 326 horsepower (240kW) and 630N m of peak torque. The xDrive 50 model has 524 horsepower (385kW) and 765N m of peak torque. Regarding acceleration, the xDrive 40 achieves 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds, while the xDrive 50 takes only 4.6 seconds. Under CLTC working conditions, the battery life reaches 471km and 665km for xDrive 40 and xDrive 50, respectively.
