Xiaomi Security Center Updates The List of Stop-supported Products, Including Redmi K30, Xiaomi Note 10

On May 14th, Gizcoupon reported that Xiaomi provides ongoing security updates for its smartphones, including those under the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands. The security updates offered by Xiaomi include the latest security patches, fixes for security issues, and other security improvements. Typically, Xiaomi Security Center provides at least two years of security updates for all Xiaomi smartphone products, and regular updates are issued while support for certain products is terminated.

Xiaomi will no longer provide software or firmware updates (including security updates) for products that have entered the list of discontinued products and may also no longer respond to reports of security vulnerabilities for these products. Xiaomi security center stopped supporting certain products on May 8th, Beijing time. These include Xiaomi PLAY, Xiaomi Note 10, Xiaomi 10 Lite Zoom (CN), Redmi Note 8 (CN), and Redmi K30 5G, among others.

Gizcoupon attaches a list of end-of-support products:

While Xiaomi’s decision to discontinue support for these products is understandable, it is important to note that this move may leave some users vulnerable to security threats. The discontinuation of software updates may make it easier for hackers to exploit vulnerabilities in these devices, putting user data and privacy at risk. It is worth noting that Xiaomi’s decision to discontinue support for these products is not unique in the industry. Many other smartphone manufacturers also stop providing software updates for their older devices.
