Xiaomi 13 Ultra Lens Resolution is Ahead of iPhone 14 Pro Max

Xiaomi 13 Ultra with Leica imaging is set to release on April 18th, according to a report by Gizcoupon on April 12th. Xiaomi has emphasized the camera’s importance in the post, which discusses the technical details of the smartphone’s camera.

According to Xiaomi, they made full use of the non-spherical mirror structure to release the flexibility of the optical path design. It makes all four lenses extremely compact. In the design phase, the shape of each non-spherical mirror surface was calculated using a “super-high-order even polynomial”. The fitting accuracy of the lens reached the nanometer level.

This precision design has brought huge challenges to production and processing. The accuracy of the cutting tools for the processing mold has reached a terrifying 20 nanometers, and every detail of the lens has been meticulously crafted. In order to strictly control the production accuracy, the yield of the lens is even less than 10%. The new high-stability coating still maintains excellent optical performance in extremely hot or cold environments.

Optical Performance and Philosophy

Xiaomi asserts that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has exceptional optical quality due to these technologies. It can achieve excellent resolution throughout the entire field of view, without relying on heavy sharpening algorithms. As shown in the above figure, the resolution of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in the lens image field is better than that of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Xiaomi and Leica have stated that optical problems should be solved by optical methods. Excessive use of computational photography due to insufficient optical quality can cause irreversible damage to the image. Furthermore, Xiaomi hopes that this concept can continue to promote the transformation of mobile imaging and achieve the “coming-of-age ceremony” of mobile imaging.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra phone camera specifications

Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumored to have Leica’s Summicron lens with a 1-inch variable aperture main camera. Moreover, the lens has four lenses covering f/1.8-f/3.0 and 12mm-120mm focal length range. It also has a 5x zoom equivalent.

Samples of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s camera have been released.
