On April 5th, it was reported that the vivo X Fold2 had passed certification in China on April 4th. Additionally, the device is expected to be released this month (April 2023).

Vivo’s VP Huang Tao showcased the vivo X Fold2 at the Boao Forum for Asia. He described it as “all-around and lightweight” with flagship-level configurations and feel. It is the most powerful foldable phone from vivo to date.

The vivo X Fold2 has a rear circular triple-camera module and a red (suede?) back cover. In addition, its design blends oriental aesthetics and modern technology, incorporating Chinese traditional culture’s classic imagery of “heaven is round and earth is square, the universe is comprised of two poles.”

Tech leaker @数码闲聊站 reported that the vivo X Fold2 would have an IMX866+V2 ISP triple-camera system without a periscope lens. The phone will be over 10% lighter than its predecessor and very thin.

Allegedly, it will boast an 8-inch Samsung E6 screen with a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it will be powered by the second-generation Snapdragon 8 processor and feature a built-in 4800mAh dual-cell battery. It supports 120W fast charging. This will also be the first second-generation Snapdragon 8 foldable screen phone to support 100W fast charging.

What’s more, in terms of photography, it will be equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 main camera with OIS optical stabilization, supplemented by a 12-megapixel IMX663 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel IMX663 telephoto camera.
