Red Magic 8 Pro series of gaming handsets released

And you call your iPhone 14 or the Xiaomi 13 high-end? This is a true top-notch smartphone, made for mobile gamers especially. Following the schedule, Nubia released the Red Magic 8 Pro series of gaming handsets, starting at 3,999 yuan ($574).

Externally, the phones in the lineup look like a product from sci-fi movies. This is especially true for the transparent version. As the company explains, they used design elements to show the series’ power and intentions.

The power inside

Inside the solid body, we can find the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with the full-blooded version of the latest LPDDR5X memory and the latest UFS4.0 storage. Plus, the handsets come with ICE 11.0 magic cooling heat dissipation system. The latter consists of a built-in fan, a full-through air duct, graphene under the screen, and as many as ten layers of heat-dissipation materials. In effect, the phones can provide the first ever 3D ice-level dual-pump VC liquid cooling. In simple words, the cooling system can instantly drop the body temperature by 16°C. At the same time, a Magic GPU self-developed frame stabilization engine can optimize frame drop scenarios.

All these features make the phones real beasts. In effect, they score 1,348,653 points in the AnTuTu benchmark platform. We should also say that there is a self-developed Redcore R2 game chip. It brings everything together to make gaming even more pleasant. We mean it magically controls sound, light, shock, and touch.

Screen and more

The series comes with a 6.8-inch full-screen manufactured by BOE. This display has a 2480×1116 resolution and almost no curvature. That’s why it’s important to mention that we are dealing with the world’s first OLED straight screen that uses an under-screen camera. The latter makes the screen-to-body ratio reach an astonishing 93.7%. At the same time, the left and right borders are only 1.48mm. The rest of the screen parameters are impressive as well. For instance, it supports PWM dimming + DC dimming, 120Hz refresh rate, 960Hz touch sampling rate, peak brightness of 1300nit, 10bit color depth, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Besides the off-screen camera, there is also a fingerprint scanner under the display panel.

In addition, the machine is equipped with the industry’s fastest 520Hz gaming shoulder keys, dual X-axis linear motors, 240MHz high-frequency concurrent HBS+9 antenna matrix WiFi, 1115K+1216 ultra-linear stereo dual speakers, and extremely advanced 3.5mm headphone jack + 3 microphone system.

Probably, the only “weak” section is the camera. The Red Magic 8 Pro uses a 16MP front camera and a rear 50MP main camera (Samsung S5KGN5, 1/1.57-inch super outsole) + 8MP ultra-wide-angle + 2MP macro triple camera on the back.

In terms of software, the series comes with the new REDMAGIC OS 6.0 system with many optimizations.

The difference between Red Magic 8 Pro and Pro+

The only differences between the Pro and Pro+ models are the battery and charging. For instance, the Red Magic 8 Pro comes with a large 6000mAh battery and 80W fast charging, while the Red Magic 8 Pro+ has a 5000mAh battery and 165W fast charging. The latter makes the phone reach 100% of power in 14 minutes.

Prices

There are many memory options to choose from. But you should know that the prices for the top variants are too high.
