200W fast-charging technology coming to mid-range category soon

In the past two years, Chinese smartphone manufacturers have reached significant results in two directions – photography and charging. The first-tier smartphone makers could outrun behemoths – Apple and Samsung. However, these two are technologies used on flagship models mainly/only. If they still can transfer high-end camera technology to mainstream models, this is not the case with the fast-charging solutions. We know that those Chinese OEMs will soon bring 200W fast-charging support to their models. But when will this solution reach mid-rangers?

Today, a well-known Chinese leaker said that in addition to 200MP cameras, the 200W fast-charging technologies would also become popular.

Though the blogger didn’t mention which manufacturer’s model this is, the 200W fast-charging solution is mainly used by VIVO’s sub-brand iQOO, specifically the iQOO 10 Pro. It costs around 5,000 yuan ($695) and is positioned at a relatively high-end level.

In addition to iQOO, Xiaomi’s 200W charging solution is also on the way. Last year, Xiaomi launched the Pengpai P1 fast-charging chip. At that time, we learned that the company would also release a 200W charging phone soon.

Will Xiaomi bring 200W fast-charging solution to the Redmi K60?

According to Xiaomi, the 200W wired charging technology uses the 10C graphene-based battery with the strongest charging capability in the industry. It not only ensures good heat dissipation but also considers the lightness and thinness of the body. This will allow a 4000mAh battery to reach 100% in 8 minutes.

So if believing the blogger, the 200W charging technology will reach models from lower categories. This means that for 3000 yuan ($417) or so, we can get our hands on a smartphone that takes outstanding photos through its 200MP camera and can be fully charged in minutes. In this sense, there is every reason to think that the model we are talking about might be the Redmi K60.
