BYINTEK K16

I am a lecturer at the university and I know that projectors are essential for modern learning systems. Unfortunately, there are still many classrooms that have no appropriate equipment. So what I do is carry huge BenQ projectors from one classroom to another. It’s not convenient. Also, such projectors cost a few thousand dollars and if something happens with them, I will lose a lot, especially in terms of finance. That’s why I need a portable projector.

But the one I bought before didn’t provide a performance that could meet my requirements. For instance, the best picture size it could have was 20-30cm. This is not sufficient for education. Well, why I am talking about my needs is to show that there are many scenarios when the projector should be portable. After many hours spent on various platforms, I was stuck at the BYINTEK K16. And below, you will get acquainted with my experience with this portable projector.

Design and interfaces: Very comfortable to carry around

The BYINTEK K16 is a portable projector and this is the keyword for this product. Of course, there are some selling points that strengthen your purchase decision. But when talking about products from this segment, you should take into consideration the weight, dimensions, speakers, battery, etc. Thus, you should be able to move it whenever and wherever you want and the projector should be able to operate independently.

BYINTEK K16

In this sense, the BYINTEK K16 is what I have been looking for for a long time. It looks like an old radio. But in fact, on the front, we have the lamp and a notification indicator. This LED lamp has a lifespan of 30,000 hours. In other words, if used for a few hours a day, it will serve you 20 years. For models from higher categories, this is a common feature. But not all portable projectors can boast of such a specification.

Above the lamp, on the top, we can see a wheel for focus correction. Of course, products from this price range don’t support auto-focus correction, and this one is among them. Also, we can see a holder dribbling along with the top panel.

On the back, we can see various ports, such as a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB port, an HDMI port, and a couple of other things, such as the power button and an infrared port. Below, there are the power input, the speakers’ grill, and the ventilation grill. By the way, there are two 5W Hi-Fi stereo speakers.

Nothing to boast of, but everything you need.

Lastly, this is not a very lightweight projector, as it comes with a weight of 1.8kg. But in comparison to other models on the market, it’s what I needed.

Hardware and performance: not ideal, but does it its job

One of the key advantages of this portable projector is the native resolution it supports. The BYINTEK K16 supports Full HD resolution and 4K content. Also, the maximum projection size is 150 inches. Honestly, I have never used it in this resolution. But in 100 inches, it was working perfectly.

Also, note that this is not a short-throw projector. Thus, you have to place it far enough from the wall. For the 100-inch picture, it’s about 3 meters. What I liked is the support for projection from the side. In other words, you don’t have to place it straightly in front of the wall. Instead, it can provide a good projection at an angle.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information about its brightness, but it’s not high. So for the best performance, you have to close the curtains. Simply put, in a room with strong sunlight, this projector won’t work well.

It can’t replace your large-screen TV.

Well, there are a few highlights I’d like to mention. First, the BYINTEK K16 sports a quad-core chip, which is paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage, and is capable of decoding 4K H.265/AVS2 4K*2K/30HZ.

In terms of connectivity, apart from the mentioned interfaces, this projector also supports dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0, and what is very important for me personally, it supports various WiFi Display options, such as AirPlay, Miracast, and DLNA.

Our protagonist also runs on Android 9, and I guess there will be no opportunity to update it.

Inside, the box, we can also find a remote control. The latter allows the implementation of various operations remotely, such as remote zoom.

Conclusion

At first sight, this is a classic low-end projector that you can easily carry out. And it is. But what made me satisfied with the performance it provides was the true FHD performance and stable connection. So though I am using it for educational purposes and it fully meets my requirements, I guess you can also use it in other scenarios. For instance, you can play games on a larger screen, do yoga by watching corresponding training, watch movies, etc.
