Recently, we have heard that Xiaomi will launch a new product to compete with the Microsoft Surface Pro X. Today, the company launched the Xiaomi Book S 12.4″. The latter hit the global market alongside the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 and other accessories. As for the 2-in-1 laptop, it’s an ultrabook, a laptop-tablet hybrid that focuses more on portability. The new 2-in-1 tablet costs €699 and is already available for purchase. At the same time, the tablet and keyboard cover combo will cost €799. Users who make a purchase between June 21 and June 30 (Xiaomi’s official website only) are eligible for a free pair of Redmi Buds 3 Pro.

Anyway, the most interesting features are inside the beautiful body of the tablet. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chip. This is not the latest Qualcomm chip for such products, but this chip performs quite well. In other words, it’s the laptop variant of the Snapdragon 855 clocked at 2.84GHz and integrating an Adreno 680 GPU. Also, this SoC is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The latter is expandable up to 512GB via the included micro SD card slot. Lastly, there is a 38.08 h / 4,920mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.
Other Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ specs include a 12.4-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 16:10 aspect ratio, peak brightness of 500 nits, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It supports touch inputs and has a cover on top. It’s Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is a 13MP camera sensor at the back and a 5MP sensor for selfies and video calls. The laptop runs an ARM-based version of Windows 11 out of the box. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Book S 12.4″ include one USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi ac, and Bluetooth 5.1.
