Roborock Q7 Max+
Roborock is a Xiaomi-related brand, which means quality and cost-effectiveness are synonyms for the brand. Almost all products coming our way from this brand perform well. However, the company has begun launching many vacuum cleaners in a short period of time. This makes a mess and doesn’t allow the customers to make the right purchase decisions. That’s why we decided to review one of the latest models that have already managed to make a stir on the market. Recently, the manufacturer released the Q series robotic vacuum cleaners that cost less than the S series models but are capable of providing good performance. For instance, the Q7 and Q7+ can clean the house with no effort. But we’d like to focus on the most powerful model from the series, namely the Roborock Q7 Max+.
This is not a low-cost robotic vacuum cleaner. Vise versa, we are dealing with a top-end vacuum cleaner, which has almost everything you can find on competing products from more popular brands. But it’s one thing to have outstanding features on paper and quite another to perform well in real life.
Design
You can choose any version of the black and white. Externally, our protagonist looks a lot like a standard robot vacuum. We mean it’s round, with an eye-like protrusion on top, which allows the cleaner to see where it’s going. Of course, on the side of the fuselage, there are many other sensors that help the cleaner not to fall down stairs, hit objects, or get stuck.
It’s a top-notch robotic vacuum cleaner, which means there are many components inside. But they also make the Roborock Q7 Max+ a bit heavier than the competing products. Also, it’s larger in size, coming at 14 inches in diameter and weighing 8.38 pounds.
Once we lift the door on top of the robot vacuum, we can see the water tank (350ml capacity) and waste bin (470ml capacity). Unlike many other products on the market, the Roborock Q7 Max+’s water tank is separated from the mop pad.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer has decided to glue the brush roller and it has no bristles for easier cleaning and maintenance. However, rubberized brushes are better at grabbing pet hair without clogging. We can also find a side brush that helps pull dirt towards the main brush.
One of the differentiating features of this robotic vacuum cleaner is Auto-Empty Dock Pure, a feature that allows the cleaner to empty the waste bin itself into the dock whenever the robot returns to charging. The self-emptying base includes a dust bag that you only need to replace about every seven weeks. There is also an extra dust bag included in the package. Of course, you can even buy off-brand bags compatible with the base.
Performance and endurance
For a robotic vacuum cleaner, the Roborock Q7 Max+ has a very good suction power for up to 4200 pa (Pascal units). This is not the ceiling, but it’s better than many products coming our way from Roomba. Also, there is a special Carpet Boost mode, which boosts suction and keeps the carpet free of any dirt or debris when it travels on the carpet.
At the same time, our protagonist comes with a 5,200 mAh battery that makes the device continuously work for three hours. On a single charge, the cleaner can clean a maximum vacuum area of 3,229 square feet.
Another selling point of this vacuum cleaner is its mopping capability. However, they are not as advanced as the S7 MaxV Ultra’s VibraRise scrubbing system, which scrubs floors and lets its vacuum system clean its own mopping pads. In this regard, the Roborock Q7 Max+ has a very simple yet effective mopping system. This cleaner uses an electric pump to distribute and control water flow levels, allowing 30 different water flows that you can optimize for each floor type.
The Roborock Q7 Max+ features a PreciSense LiDAR Navigation system to create accurate home maps. It moves around the room, cleaning the edges, and then in S mode to clean the center of the room. It doesn’t break into doors, walls, or furniture, and it’s not loud at all.
Once the maps are created, you can view them in the app in 2D or 3D modes, and you can switch back and forth between the two. The app is rich in features that allow you to add furniture, create invisible walls, prevent robots from entering certain areas or rooms, indicate different types of floors, and more. Of course, you can create schedules, track maintenance of accessories, and control everything from water flow to automatic emptying settings. So through this app, you can interact with the cleaner wherever you are and in the way you want.
Conclusion
Generally talking, the Q series is more affordable, and many Roborock Q models are reasonably priced. But this is not the case with the Roborock Q7 Max+, which costs around $600. But if you want a robotic vacuum cleaner that will do the whole job instead of you and will require some help only once in two months, this is the best option.
On the other hand, the Roborock Q7 Max+ is not as expensive as some high-end vacuums like Roborock’s S7 MaxV Ultra or the Ecovacs Deebot X1 which cost around $1500. But it provides almost the same performance as the mentioned models.
